Front-line conservation training
We address the problem of endangered wildlife being poached from protected areas by increasing the skills, personal safety, and operational effectiveness of park rangers through tailored training programmes, helping prevent wildlife (and associated zoonotic risks) reaching consumer markets.
Success will be measured by:
- Comparing pre- and post- intervention records of poaching incidents, local seizures and arrests, and longer-term monitoring of wildlife populations within a protected area.
- Number and outcome of ranger-poacher contacts pre- and post-intervention (including long-term monitoring of ranger injuries and deaths in the line of duty).
